How to Play

From summon to victory in five steps

New to Fatebound, or new to collector-RPGs in general? This is everything you need to go from your first summon to your first arena win with confidence.

Getting started

Your first session

Summon your first heroes

Use your starter summons to pull a few heroes. You'll get a guaranteed strong hero early, so everyone starts with a capable team.

Hatch a pet

Open your first crystal egg to hatch a companion. Even a single pet meaningfully boosts your whole team.

Build a deck

Combine your heroes and a pet into a battle deck. Aim for a mix of damage, durability and support rather than five of the same role.

Evolve your team

Spend the materials you earn to evolve your heroes and pet. Evolution is the fastest way to raise your team's power.

Duel in the arena

Take your team into real-time duels. Read the enemy, counter their plays, and climb the ranked ladder.

The three things that win duels

Team, synergy, decisions

A balanced team

Mix damage, durability and support. A team of five glass cannons folds to a single well-timed counter; balance survives and adapts.

Pet synergy

Pair a pet that amplifies your heroes' strengths — speed for aggressive teams, shields for defensive ones. The right pet is a force multiplier.

Evolution priority

You can't evolve everything at once early on. Invest materials into the heroes and pet you actually play, and evolve wide later.

Beginner tips

Five habits that win games

  • Finish the tutorial and early quests. They hand out summons, pets and evolution materials — free power you shouldn't skip.
  • Don't spread your materials thin. Evolve the team you play, not every hero you own. Focused power beats a wide, weak roster.
  • Match your pet to your plan. Aggressive team? Take a speed or attack pet. Defensive team? Take a shield or heal pet.
  • Read before you act in duels. Glance at the enemy team first and plan around their biggest threat instead of autopiloting.
  • Play the events. Limited-time events are the richest source of summons and materials — they're where fast progress happens.
FAQ

How-to-play FAQ

Do I need to spend money to enjoy Fatebound?

Not at all. Fatebound is fully free to play and fair by design: every hero, pet and evolution is earnable through normal play. Spending can save time, but it never buys power or an advantage in the arena. Many of our strongest players are free-to-play.

How do I build my first deck?

Combine the heroes you've summoned with one pet into a battle deck, aiming for a balance of damage, durability and support rather than five of the same role. Pick a pet that amplifies your team's strength. If you want proven starting line-ups, our beginner's guide and deck-building guide walk you through them step by step.

What should I evolve first?

Evolve the heroes and pet you actually play with, not everything you own. Early on, materials are limited, so concentrating them on your core team gives you the biggest power spike. Once that team is strong, you can branch out and evolve alternatives for different matchups.

Is there a way to practise before ranked?

Yes. Fatebound includes casual duels and AI practice modes, plus a guided tutorial that teaches summoning, pets, evolution and combat. We recommend getting comfortable there and evolving a solid core team before diving into the ranked arena.

How do I win duels consistently?

Three things: a balanced team, a pet that synergises with it, and good in-duel decisions. Read the enemy team before you commit, plan around their biggest threat, and don't be afraid to play defensively when you're behind. Consistency comes from understanding your own team deeply rather than chasing the newest hero.
